Even though the demon of competition and offshore adventure teased him, he’d initially imagined himself making a career among the ranks of those who work away in the background, preparing the steeds of the offshore racers. However, the young sailor had a few talents of his own to tap into after years of intensive sports dinghy practice, which concluded in a national Laser title and a string of solid results on the 470 within the French Team.
He won the Challenge Espoir, ranked first rookie in the Solitaire du Figaro and finished eighth in the French Championship 2010… The first season in this mould would have been enough to satisfy a number of sailors. However, Anthony has the conviction that in this profession, you have to get back to it a hundred times if you’re to do better. When you mention his performance, he retorts that he hasn’t ticked all the boxes and that he still has a lot to learn… With the talent of a top-level racer, the simplicity of a guy who doesn’t have any airs and graces and with the patient tenacity of a craftsman, Anthony has a bright future ahead of him.
