The countdown is on for Giancarlo Pedote and his team. Indeed, the relaunch of the boat in the colours of Prysmian Group is less than ten days away now, on Wednesday 18 March 2020. “The repairs linked to the damage caused by the collision with a UFO (unidentified floating object) during the Transat Jacques Vabre are now complete. We’ve also finished running new cables for all the electric and electronic systems. Right now, we’re seeking to make as much headway as we can with the ergonomics element, we’re taking care of the hydrogenerators, then we’ll gradually sort out the components relating to on-board energy”, explained the Italian sailor who is bang on schedule with the planned timings. “The new Lombardini engine has just been installed and we’re in the process of coupling up the propeller shaft. Moreover, the parts we sent off for an overhaul are nearly all back in position, which means we can move forward the way we want and gradually reassemble the deck fittings”, added Giancarlo, just back this Monday from a weather training session and already preparing himself for a rapid return trip to Paris, and more accurately the American Embassy, to get the necessary visas with a view to The Transat CIC and then the New York – Vendée, the first two events of his racing season.
