Last Thursday, at the Ateliers des Capucins centre in Brest, the 15th edition of The Transat CIC was officially presented to the press. Giancarlo Pedote, the skipper of Prysmian Group, was naturally in attendance. It was an opportunity for the organisers to lift the veil on the three classes competing in the event (Ultimes, IMOCA and Class40), the two courses on offer to Charleston, as well as the protagonists. It’s already shaping up to be a very colourful battle among the 60-footers, with no fewer than 17 solo sailors set to compete in the oldest of the transatlantic races. Following a route created some 60 years ago, it is the mother of all races and will set sail on 10 May 2020, albeit from Brest in France for the very first time. This meeting was primarily a fine moment for exchange and sharing for the journalists, race organisers and partners, as well as for the 28 competitors who will take the start on 10 May 2020.
