Jean-Louis began his career as an electrician and retired as a Prevention Expert in the electricity and gas sector. Now, as an Electriciens sans frontières volunteer, explains why he is committed to humanitarian work. He volunteers in France and in other countries of action to improve people‘s lives, for both personal and professional reasons.
In 1989, he took part in the first humanitarian experience, which would mark him for life. Time later, he had to put his volunteering on hold due to professional reasons, with the idea of retaking it in the future.
“I approached Electriciens sans frontières in 2004 because of my previous experience, my skills and abilities, as well as a strong taste for sharing. In this context, I enriched my relationships with others . I also developed new skills in the field of photovoltaics. That made me the person I am today. At the beginning of my volunteering, I participated in the creation of a delegation in Gironde. Then one thing led to another: I participated in my first missions in Mali and Congo, and then I joined the regional secretariat of the Aquitaine delegation. I help to develop, implement and monitor projects. I also bring my knowledge of the field when the delegation is requested by other associations.”
